About

A research practice serving corporate social responsibility.

Karnataka CSR was formed by anthropologists and sociologists who spent their careers doing fieldwork in the state's districts. We work with company CSR teams, boards and CSR committees, and with government and public sector partners, on programmes that have to stand up to audit as well as to scrutiny from the communities they serve.

Our method is straightforward. We begin in the field, not in a template. Baseline studies establish what conditions actually are before a rupee is committed. Implementation is monitored against those baselines. Assessment, at the end, reports what changed and what did not.

The field comes first

No programme design is finalised before the district has been visited and surveyed.

Independence in assessment

Assessment teams are staffed separately from implementation teams.

Consent and ethics

Informed consent for all interviews; identifiers withheld where publication could harm respondents.

Written to be audited

Method, sample and limitations are stated in full so findings can be checked.
